During Lautrec’s work in Paris, he would supplement his income by producing playbills (flyers) for current stage productions. This playbill, for the “Theatre Libre” was created for the 1893-1894 season. This playbill has more of the written word than any other work produced by Lautrec. Listings are of the cast in both theatre productions

The hairdresser is either male or female, your guess! The frame measures 23 inches high x 19 1/2 inches wide. The playbill itself measures 12 3/4 inches high x 9 3/4 inches wide. Provenance: From the Estate of Oscar Serlin The playbill was part of the fine poster art collection of Oscar Serlin, the pre-eminent Broadway producer (“Life With Father”) It was displayed at his home: 53 East 91 Street.
