Antique Blue Butterfly Glass Wing Pendant/Necklace circa. 1920 European
Butterfly wing jewelry was popularized when exhibited at the British Empire Exhibition in 1924 Afterwards, butterfly wing jewelry became all the rage! Eventually, a Czechoslovakian glass works made the butterfly wings by taking dry leaves to imitate the real wings and when the back of the glass was still soft after cooling, the back was foiled with gold This was a costly, labor intensive process that allowed the wing color not to fade We were lucky enough to find this glass butterfly which is in pristine condition The 23 inch brass double chain and brass bale were a later addition Everything else is original
The butterfly measures 1 1/2 inches high x 2 1/2 inches wide Weight of the necklace is 16.7 g. 10.7 dwt

Beautiful piece! Matches photo perfectly. Seems very high quality, the necklace had some wear and tear but it is a vintage piece so this is to be expected

I love my antique Victorian brooch it looks exactly like it was pictured it is well made the item matched the description just the back pin is a little loose probably because it is old but very beautiful brooch I am happy with it.
